Where does the climate data come from?▼
Every figure comes from NASA POWER (Prediction Of Worldwide Energy Resources), built on MERRA-2 satellite and model data. We hold monthly records for each city from 1981 onwards, so most comparisons are based on more than four decades of observations.
Is this forecast data?▼
No. This tool compares long-term climate — what the weather is typically like in each city at a given time of year. It is designed for planning trips, relocations and outdoor projects rather than telling you whether it will rain next Tuesday.
Can I compare cities in different countries?▼
Yes. Any two cities in our database can be compared, whether they are in the same state or on opposite sides of the world. Temperatures can be shown in Celsius or Fahrenheit.
Why do two nearby towns sometimes show identical numbers?▼
NASA POWER reports on a grid rather than per settlement, so two places within roughly 50 km can fall inside the same grid cell and share a reading. If both columns look identical, the cities are simply too close together for the data to tell them apart.
